Under and by virtue of an Ordinance of the Convention of the People
State of Arkansas, adopted and passed on the 28th of May, A.D. 1861.
"Arkansas War Bond."
Know all Men by these Present, That the State of Arkansas, five years from the first day of
July, 1861, promises to pay to A.M. Woodruff
or bearer, the sum of Five hundred Dollars in specie, with interest at
the rate of EIGHT per centum per annum from date, to be paid semi-annually in specie, on the first days of January and July, in each
Year, at the Treasury of the State of Arkansas, and is "receivable, at par, in payment of debts due to the Bank of the State of Arkansas,
and Real Estate Bank of the State of Arkansas, in payment for any debt due to the State, either in her own right or as Trustee; in
payment for the purchase of any lands belonging to the State, and in payment of State revenue." "The faith of the State of Arkan-
sas, and all the public lands thereof, are" "pledged for the payment and redemption of" this and other like Bonds.
The Testimony Whereof, The Treasurer of the State of Arkansas has hereunto set his<br.
name and affixed his official seal, and the Auditor of Public Accounts has coun-
tersigned the same, this the 25th day of June, in the Year of<br.
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty one.<br.
