Historical Note
Winthrop Rockefeller (Republican), grandson of John D. Rockefeller, was elected the 37th Governor of Arkansas in 1966, defeating Jim Johnson (Democrat.) When Rockefeller arrived in Arkansas in 1953, he purchased land on Petit Jean Mountain outside of Morrilton in Conway County, where he built Winrock Farms.
