"KINGDOM NEWS" IS
PLACED UNDER BAN
Persons Promiscuously Circu-
lating It to Be Prose-
cuted.
Immediate steps to prosecute per-
sons who distribute copies of "The
Kingdom News," a Russelite publi-
cation, to persons other than recogniz-
ed members of the sect, will be taken,
Assistant United States District At-
torney W.H. Rector announced yester-
day, upon receipt of instructions from
Washington.
Last week many residents of Little
Rock reported finding copies of the
paper on their porches. The papers
had been put there during the night.
One of the issues contained an article
entitled, "The finished Mystery and
why It was Suppressed." A dispatch
to the Gazette Monday from its Fort
Smith correspondent said that federal
officials there had received notice
that "The Kingdom News" was con-
sidered seditious and its distribution
ordered stopped. When this was call-
ed to Mr. Rector's attention he tele-
graphed the Department of Justice
and yesterday received the following
reply:
"Regarding Kingdom News, any
distribution of this tract to persons
other than regular and recognized
members of the sect should be treated
as part of unlawful propaganda rep-
resented by The Finished Mystery
and proceeded against in accordance
with previous instructions concerning
The Finished Mystery. (Signed)
Gregory, attorney general."
Mr. Rector said he has had no in-
formation regarding persons who dis-
tributed the tract last week but
that they will not be prosecuted un-
less the tract is distributed in the
future. He said he expects no trouble
after publication of the ruling of the
Department of Justice.
