About this collection

Women have held a compelling and unique place in Arkansas history.  From its early roots in women’s suffrage to claiming the first all-female city government (the town of Winslow in the 1920s) and later electing the country’s first female senator in 1932, Arkansas has seen women breaking down barriers and busting the glass ceiling. This collection represents some of that unique history. We hope you’ll enjoy browsing through this collection and check back as it continues to grow.
